General information
Permits are available online as 'Taumarunui Reserves' under the Central North Island hunting block.
Lowland forest with with some open grass areas. The terrain is steep to rolling.
Access
- From State Highway 43 south of Taumarunui, turn off onto Paparoa Road. Follow this road until Tawata Road and continue along this road until reaching Mangaohutu Road. The top part of this block can be accessed directly of Mangaohutu Road.
- Boat access is available from Taumarunui or Whakahoro.

Dogs
A separate permit is required to hunt with dogs. All dogs must be avian avoidance certified. Contact the local DOC office for details.
