General information

Permits are available online as 'Taumarunui Reserves' under the Central North Island hunting block.

Lowland forest with tawa and kamahi are the dominant canopy trees. Some lower areas of manuka and tree fern. The terrain is moderate.

Access

From State Highway 4, turn onto Kawautahi Road south of Owhango. The reserve can be accessed directly off Kawautahi Road.

Dogs

A separate permit is required to hunt with dogs. All dogs must be avian avoidance certified. Contact the local DOC office for details.
