Minister of Conservation Hon Kate Wilkinson today announced the appointments to the Wellington Hawke’s Bay Conservation Board.Date: 23 December 2010
Minister of Conservation Hon Kate Wilkinson today announced the appointments to the Wellington Hawke’s Bay Conservation Board. “I am pleased to reappoint Helen Algar of Wellington and John Hancock of Martinborough to the Wellington Hawke’s Bay Conservation Board”.
Ms Algar is a public policy consultant. She has experience and knowledge of policy development relating to agriculture, forestry, conservation, environment, biosecurity and climate change. Her outdoor interest is walking.
Mr Hancock is a farmer and is actively involved in conservation and restoration of farm land. He has served on committees of a diverse range of organisations in the Wairarapa region and has good community networks. His outdoor interests are hunting, fishing and duck shooting.
“I am also pleased to appoint Don Adams of Masterton, Garth Eyles of Napier, Malcolm Guy of Levin, Anne Lawrence of Palmerston North and Douglas Stevens of Wellington”.
Mr Adams is a trustee of the Game and Forest Foundation Trust and past president of the New Zealand chapter of Safari Club International. His outdoor interests are hunting and fishing.
Mr Eyles is a scientist with extensive experience in sustainable land management, native bush protection, wetlands rehabilitation and sand dunes protection. His outdoor recreation interest is walking.
Mr Guy is a farmer with local government and regional council experience. He is a member on a number of committees with farming and dairying orientation. His outdoor interest is tramping.
Ms Lawrence has a background is in educational development. She is a member on a number of trusts such as Te Araroa Manawatu Trust and Manawatu Striders. Her outdoor interests are cycling, tramping and walking.
Mr Stevens is a founder of nzfishing.com website. He is familiar with the conservation issues relevant to trout fishing. His outdoor interests are fishing, boating, rafting and walking.
The Minister thanked outgoing members Geoff Doring, Andrew Foster and Margaret Shields for their significant contribution to the Wellington Hawke’s Bay Conservation Board.
