David Mules
Formerly based in Hokianga, David was a teacher and principal at Panguru and Broadwood Area Schools for many years, and knows the north well.
David says, “I am excited by this opportunity to work alongside communities in helping to protect and restore some of the special conservation values that are a feature of this part of Te Tai Tokerau.”
High on David’s list of priorities will be a wish to make contact with iwi, hapū and other community groups – including businesses – involved in conservation projects, or those with aspirations to work together with the department in such partnerships.
Rolien Elliott, Area Manager says, “David comes to the Bay of Islands with eight years of community relations experience working for the department in the Coastal Otago office, based in Dunedin. This, together with his previous experience in the north will be invaluable for the department’s work in the Bay of Islands.”
