Proposed revocation of Rodney County reserves management plan
IntroductionHave your say on the proposal to revoke the Rodney County Reserves Management System – Scenic and Scientific Reserves Management Plan. Submissions close 2 July 2018.
The Department gives notice under section 40A(4)(b) of the Reserves Act 1977 of its intention to to revoke the Rodney County Reserves Management System – Scenic and Scientific Reserves Management Plan 1983.

The Plan, which pre-dates the Department, was prepared by the former Department of Lands & Survey and covers two scientific and 30 scenic reserves in the former Rodney County Council area, to the north of Auckland. The provisions of the Plan were superseded by a conservation management strategy in late 1995 but due to an administrative oversight the Plan was not formally revoked at that time. The Auckland Conservation Management Strategy 2014 now provides management direction for the reserves covered by the Plan.
The Plan is outdated and reflects the legislation and management approaches of 35 years ago. The Department is proposing to formally revoke the Plan to correct the administrative oversight and remove doubt as to its legal status.
