Fees to camp at the hut
Adult: $5
Youth (11-17 years): $2.50
Child/infant (0-10 years): free
Camping here is on a “first come, first served” basis. Pay at the Tititea/Mount Aspiring Visitor Centre in Wānaka. Campers have access to toilets and an open-sided shelter but cannot use the hut facilities.
Backcountry Hut Passes and Backcountry Hut Tickets cannot be used at this hut.
Bookings
Bookings are open for stays from 1 November 2022 to 5 June 2023.
2023/24 bookings
Bookings for the 2023/24 season have been delayed. The new opening date will be confirmed 31 May 2023.
All bookings operate on a first-come first-served basis. We do not operate waiting lists for bookings for future seasons, or currently booked-out facilities.

A $10 service fee applies to all phone, email and in-person bookings. New Zealand Alpine Club (NZAC) members applying for their discount will not be charged this fee.

Bookings not required - bunks available on a first come, first served basis.
Your hut booking is for any bunk bed, not for a specific bunk bed – select your bunk bed on arrival.

Landslide hazard
Aspiring Hut sits in a known landslide debris path which poses a potential hazard to people at the hut and campsite. The risk may increase following earthquake events or very heavy rainfall. A temporary closure procedure for Aspiring Hut will be activated when heavy rainfall is forecast.
Hut ranger
A hut ranger will usually be present from October to end of April.
Sleeping mat required
This can be a popular hut, outside the booking season consider carrying a sleeping mat in case no bunks are available.
Large group notification required May to October
During the months May to October, groups of more than ten people need to fill in a large group notification form. Contact the Tititea/Mt Aspiring National Park Visitor Centre at least two weeks before your departure date to receive this. The form is not a booking – the hut is still first come, first served.
