Introduction
This steep tramping track in Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound leads up to an impressive hanging valley and views of the Huntleigh Falls and Deep Cove.1.9 km return via same track
Dog access
From the Deep Cove Hostel, head to the hostel manager’s house across the road. Behind this house is the track heading up the hill.
There is a marked side track to see the hostel’s hydro dam, and then the track climbs up the ‘Kea Cairn’.
A further 30 minutes walk takes you up to the end of this hanging valley to the base of the Huntleigh Falls. This track is steep and challenging, but the views are spectacular.
This track is in Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound, Fiordland, starting from Deep Cove Hostel.
The easiest way to get to Doubtful Sound is to travel by boat from Pearl Harbour wharf in Manapouri, across the lake to West Arm, then travel by coach over the Wilmot Pass to Deep Cove.
This needs to be booked in advance with one of the local transport operators.
