Te Rua-o-te-moko / Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre is in the lakeside town of Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland National Park – part of the Te Wāhipounamu World Heritage Area.
Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre a phone and email service on Sundays and Wednesdays
The Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre will operate a phone and email only service on Sundays and Wednesdays from 2 February 2025.
This means that the doors will be closed to visitors in-person but information will be available via email and phone on these days.
You can contact us on +64 3 249 7924 or by email at fiordlandvc@doc.govt.nz when our doors are closed. Visitors will still have access to the 24-hour lobby for up-to-date weather information, notices, and other services.
The visitor centre remains open to in-person visitors Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Getting there
We’re on the waterfront, at the corner of Lakefront Drive and SH95 Manapouri Highway. It's a 10 minute walk from Te Anau's main street.

Summer 2025
Until 30 April 2025:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday open 9 am – 4 pm. Closed 12–1 pm for lunch.
- Wednesday and Sunday, closed to in-person entry. Open for phone and email service 9 am – 4 pm. Closed 12–1 pm for lunch.
Winter 2025
1 May to 24 October 2025:
- Monday to Saturday open 9 am – 4 pm. Closed 12–1 pm for lunch.
- Closed Sunday.
Summer 2025/26
25 October 2025 to 30 April 2026:
- Monday to Sunday open 9 am – 4 pm. Closed 12–1 pm for lunch.
Holidays
- Anzac Day, 25 April, 1 pm – 4 pm.
- Open on public holidays, except closed Christmas Day, 25 December.
