Fires are not allowed at any time. See fire rules on conservation land.
From Labour Weekend to Easter the gate is closed from 9 pm to 7 am daily. Ensure that you plan your trip to arrive and leave within the open hours.

Bookings
Bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2026.
If there is no availability showing online for your dates, the campsite is fully booked. No sites are held for campers turning up on the day without a booking. You can book on the same day until 8 pm, if spaces are available.
Bookings are required all year. Book well in advance for the peak period from 1 December - 28 February and for public holiday weekends.
8 km north of Blenheim, turn off SH1 at Tuamarina into Hunter Rd, left into Pembers Rd/Rarangi Rd, and follow left into Rarangi Beach Rd. Take sharp left into Port Underwood Rd and follow to the campsite.

Water safety
If you plan to enjoy the water, learn how to stay safe when swimming, boating and fishing.
Late arrivals/early departures
The gate to the campsite is locked overnight during the peak season.
If you're arriving late via Picton ferry (after 8 pm) or have an early departure time (before 7 am) Whites Bay Campsite is not suitable during the peak period (Labour weekend to Easter).
In this case we recommend Whatamango Bay Campsite (15 minutes from the ferry terminal in Picton). It has wide open spaces, is quicker to get to and easier to get in and out of.
Go walking, fishing, swimming or kayaking from here.
