From Thames, head east along the Kauaeranga Valley road to Booms Flat Campsite which is 6 km past the DOC visitor centre.
Booms Tramping Track starts from inside Booms Flat Campsite, and parking is available at the campsite.
The track is steep in places and maybe slippery and muddy when wet.
It is a challenging track that requires a reasonable/advanced level of fitness.
