About this hunting block
Animals present are red deer and chamois in low to moderate numbers.
General information
This block includes steep beech/tawhai forested slopes on the true left of the Craigie Burn below the forks at E1284200, N5087200. Above the forks the terrain is river flats, and subalpine shrubland/tussock grassland slopes. The whole west branch, and the head of the east branch, are included in the block.
This block is balloted for the roar period during the months of March and April.

The use of shotguns, shotgun-rifle combos, .22 calibre and rim-fire firearms are prohibited on public conservation land unless stated otherwise.
Access
There are three ways to access this block:
- Private or commercial boat across lake
- Private aircraft with landing permits or chartered aircraft from Makarora township
- On foot from the true right of the Makarora River – this access is dependent on the flow of Wilkin and Makarora Rivers. It also crosses pastoral lease land, so you need to contact the landholder for permission.
