There is a small camping area beside the hut.
Mountain biking
This is a shared-use track. Follow the mountain bikers code: respect others, respect the rules, respect the track.
From SH32 (Western Bay Road), turn into the carpark for the Taupo Great Lake Trail (south of the Waihāhā Road turnoff). Cross the road from the carpark, go over the small bridge and you'll see the start of the track.
