Moke Lake Campsite

Located in Queenstown area in the Otago region

This is a peaceful campsite beside a small lake. Go boating, swimming, fishing or canoeing on the lake. Walk or mountain bike from Moke Lake to Lake Dispute (a 2 hour walk).

A camp manager in place at site during summer season.

Make sure you have a booking before you go to Moke Lake. There is limited Wi-Fi located at the camp manager’s van to make a booking at site.

If fully booked, Twelve Mile Delta Campsite is located on the Queenstown-Glenorchy Road and does not require reservations.

Note: The bookings limit is due to the campsite infrastructure rather than camping space.

Fees

  • Adult (18+ years): $18 per night
  • Child (5–17 years): $9 per night
  • Infant (0–4 years): free

Passes

The DOC Campsite Pass can be used at this campsite. 

Campsite Pass bookings must be booked online before occupying a site. If you do not book, bookings may be made by campground staff (if present) and will incur a $10 service charge. Sites may not be available if you do not book. 

Bookings

Bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2026.

If there is no availability showing online for your dates, the campsite is fully booked. No sites are held for campers turning up on the day without a booking.

Online bookings are required all year.

A $10 service fee applies to phone and in-person booking. This is a limited service – book online first. An in-person booking is dependent on there being space available.

Turn off the Glenorchy Rd 6 km west of Queenstown into Moke Lake Road and follow the gravel road for about 7 km to the lake.

The road to Moke Lake in winter can be tricky and 4WD only.

The boat speed limit on the lake is 5 km/hr.

Water is turned off in winter as it freezes.
