Thunder Creek Falls

Located in Mount Aspiring National Park in the Otago region

A short bush walk to a viewing platform showcasing the 28 m high Thunder Creek Falls.

An easy walk on a sealed track that passes through kāmahi and silver beech forest to a viewing platform above the Haast River. It has great views of the spectacular, 28 m high Thunder Creek Falls on the other side.

The car park for Thunder Creek Falls is located on the Haast Highway (SH6), 50 km south of Haast township.

The nearest toilet facilities are located at the Pleasant Flat Campsite, 5 km north along SH6.

No visitor centre in Makarora

Contact the Awarua/Haast or Tititea/Mount Aspiring National Park visitor centres instead. 

All drone use must be authorised by DOC

You must have a permit to fly a drone on public conservation land.
