Haast Pass Lookout Track

Located in Mount Aspiring National Park in the Otago region

A short climb through native forest to the bush-line, with a good view of Mount Brewster.

This well-maintained gravel track climbs 150 m in elevation through beech forest to a viewpoint above the trees with a stunning vista of the Southern Alps/Kā Tiritiri o Te Moana. Mount Brewster is prominent to the northeast.

For a longer walk, consider combining the Haast Pass Lookout with the Bridle Track (1.5 hr one-way), which starts on the other side of SH6 from the same car park.

The car park is located at the top of Haast Pass/Tioripatea on the Haast Highway (SH6), 80 km north of Wanaka.

The nearest toilet facilities are located at the Cameron Flat Campsite, 10 km south along SH6.
