From the car park a short bush walk leads to the bed of the Haast River, with a view of the beautiful fan-shaped waterfall at the foot of Fantail Creek.

The car park for Fantail Falls is located on the Haast Highway (SH6), 85 km north of Wanaka.

The nearest toilet facilities are located at the Pleasant Flat Campsite, 10 km north along SH6.

No visitor centre in Makarora

Contact the Awarua/Haast or Tititea/Mount Aspiring National Park visitor centres instead.
