IntroductionThis is a serviced 32-bunk hut in the Wellington region. The hut is locked and must be booked in advance to gain access.
This is a popular site so book well in advance.

The hut is locked – refer to your booking confirmation for how to obtain the access code.
It sleeps 32 in 4 bunk rooms with 8 bunks in each of the rooms: Kea, Kiwi, Kokopu and Kapowai. Each bunk room is sole occupancy.

You need to bring:
- Sleeping bag and personal equipment
- Candles, headlamp or torch for lighting

The fees per room and are for up to 8 people.
- Weekdays: $85 per night
- Weekends* (Friday or Saturday): $100 per night
- Peak: (23 December – 16 January): $100 per night
*Weekend pricing only applies October – April.

- Peak (26 December – 08 February): $130 per night
Bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2023.
Bookings for the 2023/24 season have been delayed. Check here on 14 June 2023 when we will announce the new booking opening dates.
All bookings operate on a first-come first-served basis. We do not operate waiting lists for bookings for future seasons, or currently booked-out facilities.
Bookings are required all year. Book well in advance - this is a popular hut.
A $10 service fee applies to phone and in-person booking. This is a limited service – book online first. An in-person booking is dependent on there being space available.
If this hut isn't available, consider Coast Road Cabin at the entrance to the Catchpool Valley.
Turere Lodge is a 2 hr 30 min walk via the Ōrongorongo Track. Then from Turere Bridge at the end of the Ōrongorongo Track, follow the Big Bend Track for a further 30 min (1.2 km) or walk up the river bed. The river route involves multiple river crossings – do not use it when the river is in flood or when there has been lots of rainfall in the area.
