Corner Creek Campsite

Located in Remutaka Forest Park in the Wairarapa region

Just a 5 minute walk from Palliser Bay. Go fishing, surfing, walking, hunting and mountain biking.

The campsite is situated amongst coastal manuka forest within 5 minutes walk from Palliser Bay. Can get strong winds. 

Fees

  • Adult (18+ years): $10 per night
  • Child (5–17 years): $5 per night
  • Infant (0–4 years): free

The DOC Campsite Pass can be used at this campsite. 

Bookings

Bookings for the 2026/27 season open at 12 noon on Thursday 14 May 2026.  

  • If no availability shows online for your dates, the campsite is fully booked.
  • No spaces are kept for campers arriving without a booking.
  • Phone and in‑person bookings made at a visitor centre incur a $10 service fee.
  • Same‑day bookings are available online until 8 pm if spaces remain.

45 minutes from Featherston, along Western Lake Road.

Drive south from Featherston along the Western Lake Rd, and then west on Wharekauhau Rd to the coast. Drive north west alongside Ocean Beach to Corner Creek.

Unsealed road for at least 3 km with two stream fords. Unsuitable for low 2WD vehicles. 4WD high clearance vehicles often required, especially after or during weather events or rain. Check conditions before planning travel. Accessible only from the eastern side of the Remutaka Range.
