Pāhautea Hut Campsite

Located in Pirongia Forest Park in the Waikato region

There are camping pads next to Pāhautea Hut and a shelter provided with water, sink, bench and table.

This campsite sits right next to Pāhautea Hut.

The tent sites are about 4X4 m squares to pitch your tent on.

Water is untreated here. Boil before use.

  • Adult (18+ years): $5.00
  • Child/youth (5–17 years): $2.50
  • Infant (0–4 years): free
Saturday
  • Adult (18+ years): $7.50
  • Child/youth (5–17 years): $3.75
  • Infant (0–4 years): free

Te Araroa Trail walkers should register and purchase the Te Araroa Trail Pass.

Bookings

Bookings for the 2026/27 season open at 12 noon on Thursday 14 May 2026.  

  • If no availability shows online for your dates, the campsite is fully booked.
  • No spaces are kept for campers arriving without a booking.
  • Phone and in‑person bookings made at a visitor centre incur a $10 service fee.
  • Same‑day bookings are available online until 8 pm if spaces remain.
