Lake Rotoroa Campsite

Located in Nelson Lakes National Park and St Arnaud area in the Nelson/Tasman region

An easily accessible camp in a picturesque setting - enjoy water activities or a stroll in the native bush.

Camp near the lake edge, surrounded by native bush. Explore tall forests and the lakeshore, or tramp in the D’Urville and Sabine Valleys.

There is a boat ramp and jetty for outdoor activities.

Fees

  • Adult (18+ years): $15 per night
  • Child (5–17 years): $7.50 per night
  • Infant (0 - 4 years): free

The DOC Campsite Pass can be used at this campsite. 

Pay using the campsite booking slips in the kiosk and deposit your payment into the "iron ranger."

Bookings

Bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2027.

  • If no availability shows online for your dates, the campsite is fully booked.
  • No spaces are kept for campers arriving without a booking.
  • Phone and in‑person bookings made at a visitor centre incur a $10 service fee.
  • Same‑day bookings are available online until 8 pm if spaces remain.

Off SH6, east of Murchison. Follow Gowan Valley Road to end.
