If you are wanting to travel to Ngamoko Hut via Ngamoko Range, be aware DOC does not manage nor mark a track up to nor along Ngamoko Range.

Much of the terrain is challenging subalpine scrub making travel slow. This trip should only be attempted by people with good fitness and a high level of experience in navigating and travelling in backcountry and remote areas.

Stay safe when crossing rivers

If you plan to cross unbridged rivers, know how to cross safely and be prepared for if you cannot cross.

Do not cross if the river is flooded, you cannot find safe entry and exit points or are unsure it’s safe. Turn back or wait for the river to drop. If in doubt, stay out.
