    • Kauri dieback disease is spread through soil.
    • Scrub soil off shoes and gear and check it's all removed before you go.
    • Use a hygiene station when you enter and leave.
    • Always stay on the track.

About this track

Description

This track is an old horse-drawn tram track. It passes unusual andesitic rock formations enroute to the old camp and battery site for the Royal Standard Goldmine.

Beyond the battery site and tunnel are the Wharekirauponga Falls.

Getting there

The track starts at the end of Parakawai Quarry Road, 2 km south of the Wentworth Valley near Whangamata.
