Brodrick Hut was built in 1966 by the New Zealand Forest Service. At that time it was sited so it could be easily seen by people coming from the Landsborough over Brodrick Pass.
Fees
- Adult (18+ years): $10 per night
- Youth (5–17 years): $5 per night
- Child/Infant (0–4 years): free
Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night's stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass that gives unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 6 or 12 month period.

Broderick Hut is 9 hours (22.5 km) up the Huxley valley, off Hopkins valley at the end of Lake Ohau Road.

In a very heavy snowfall season the avalanche path adjacent to Maitland hut could over fill and advance as far as the hut. Avoid the hut during these times.
