Summary of proposal:

  1. Lease and licence for existing structures:
    • Boatshed: timber-framed, green metal cladding, 102.5m² with steel slipway
    • bridge providing side access to boatshed
    • Phoenix palm tree 6 m tall on grass knoll by boatshed.

All structures predate 1992 when the property was purchased.

Concession applied for: The applicant seeks a 30-year lease for exclusive use of the boatshed as well as a licence for the bridge and palm tree.

What happens next

After submissions close:

  1. DOC will analyse and consider all submissions.
  2. If anyone asks to speak, a hearing may be held. You will be contacted beforehand if you wish to speak.
  3. DOC will consider all feedback and make a recommendation.
  4. A final decision will be made by the Minister of Conservation’s representative.

If a hearing is required, it is likely to occur at the end of August 2026. The exact date will be confirmed.

This public notice does not mean the concession will be approved. No decision has been made yet. When a decision is made, the outcome will be published here.
