Introduction

Get details of Enriching Local Curriculum (ELC) education programmes in Aoraki/Mount Cook for secondary school students in years 11-13.

Learning Experiences Outside The Classroom (LEOTC) programmes complement and enrich classroom learning.

The Aoraki/Mount Cook and Mackenzie areas offer unique learning environments. To get the most out of their visit and learning opportunities, we advise that secondary schools students stay at least one, preferably two nights. Aiming to satisfy the requirements of multiple achievement standards is achievable for many subject areas.

ELC Aoraki/Mount Cook caters for all secondary students from years 11-13, particularly those studying the natural sciences such as Biology, Education for Sustainability and Geography, but also other subject areas such as the Visual Arts and History. Programmes are designed to provide unique and stimulating learning experiences combining presentations with workshops, self directed learning, and outdoor pursuits.

ELC Aoraki/Mount Cook has a tradition of providing a range of high quality activities which are directly linked to curriculum learning objectives and NCEA achievement standards across a multitude of subject areas. We aim to link our special alpine landscape to student learning via individually designed programmes for each school.

Choose from the following activities. If your year level or subject area is not presented here, contact us as we have the resources to put together presentations/workshops to align with different student needs.
