Introduction

Fiordland Lobster is the largest New Zealand exporter of live Fiordland rock lobster and supports many conservation related projects.

The Fiordland Lobster Company has supported several species translocations in Fiordland. 

  • Mohua and South Island robin from Anchor and Breaksea Islands to Pigeon Island, Dusky Sound in 2006.

  • North Island kōkako from three sites (Mapara, Kaharoa, Rotoehu) in the North Island to Secretary Island, Doubtful Sound in 2008/2009.

  • Little spotted kiwi from Kapiti Island to Anchor Island/Pukenui in 2015-17, with the third and final transfer of the kiwi expected in June 2017. 
  • Pāteke, from captive rearing sites around the country, to Resolution Island, Dusky Sound in May 2017.
