General information

This block is part of the Silver Peaks Scenic Reserve and lies north of Dunedin.

The Silver Peaks is steep to rolling country and very exposed in places. A significant amount of silver beech/tahina, broadleaf and kānuka covers the area to the east, while the western side is snow tussock with some small pockets of silver beech/tahina.

No fires to be lit in the open without a fire permit. Extinguish all fires before leaving huts and campsites.

Access is via State Highway One north of Dunedin – turn left just after Waitati, up Double Hill Road, which becomes Semple Road. The access point is marked with a Silver Peaks Scenic Reserve sign. 4WD may be required for the last kilometre or so, as the road can be rough depending on the weather conditions.
