This area is open year round. Part of this site is in a wilderness area which prevents helicopter access. Hunters should consider camping on moraine wall near Agfa Knob.

Helicopter access: All year to part of site only
Road access point: Whitcombe Valley Road/ Hokitika Gorge
Foot access: Allow 2 days to Wilkinson Hut

Site specific information

Permissions: DOC hunting permit required.
Map: Topo50 BW18.
Additional species: Chamois and deer also present at this site. Best Chamois numbers can be found near the head of the Whitcombe River. Look for deer down true left faces Pahlow Ridge.

Notes

Hunters should consider camping on moraine wall near Agfa Knob. Tahr concentrated on steep faces opposite Agfa knob.

This area receives DOC aerial control as this area buffers the northern exclusion zone where all tahr are shot.
