Application form for Molesworth hunting roar period
Complete the application form below for hunting during the Molesworth roar period from 11 March to 14 April 2026.

Applications open on Monday 20 October 2025. 

Roar 2026 hunting permits for Molesworth are being issued on a 'first come, first served' basis.

To allow equal opportunity, only the party leader details need to be entered on each roar application.

Before you apply:

Application conditions

  • Only one hunting party can be present in each of the blocks for each period (see date periods).
  • Blocks are allocated on a first come, first served basis until all blocks are taken.
  • Only one application per hunting party is allowed – a maximum of 8 people on each permit (6 hunters/non hunters with the addition of 2 non hunters per party block).
  • No individual can be in more than one hunting party for any period, or your party will be disqualified.
  • Applications will only be accepted through the online application form – there will be no email bookings or paper application forms.
  • There are 20 blocks available for the roar period on Molesworth Recreation Reserve.
  • The application allows for four choices (combination of blocks and dates).
  • Permits will be emailed out a fortnight before the hunting date.
  • If you and your hunting party/group are unsuccessful you can apply again if blocks are available.
  • If you are successful, you must carry the permit while in Molesworth Recreation Reserve. If you are leaving a vehicle on the roadside, leave a copy of the permit visible on the dashboard. Vehicles may be left up to 50 m from the Acheron Road.

Hunting party

Your hunting party can contain up to 6 hunters and an additional 2 non-hunting party members. This is a maximum of 8 people per party.

Successful party leaders will need to add the details of their hunting party to the application

Successful party leaders will be required to submit their hunting party (hunters and non-hunters) and vehicles via the link included in their confirmation email.

Party leaders must confirm hunting party and vehicles details by Friday 21 November 2025. Details required include hunters and non-hunters full names (as shown on firearms licences for hunters), physical addresses, email address, phone numbers, vehicle makes and models, colours and registrations.

I wish to add additional hunting party members (hunting or non-hunting) and vehicles. I confirm I will send all additions to my hunting party by Friday 21 November 2025.

The party leaders will be sent a link to add hunters/non-hunters and vehicles details at the time of their confirmation email. It must be submitted by Friday 21 November 2025
