  • The terms and conditions of the Hut Pass, including the list of huts that are excluded, may be subject to change at any time and without prior notice. It is the responsibility of the holder of the Hut Pass to check the terms and conditions for any changes.
Passes purchased before 1 July 2021

DOC will honour the terms and conditions of the old pass (passes bought before 1 July 2021) for the life of that pass (6 or 12 months).

Note after 30 June 2021, the pass is no longer valid during the summer period for the following huts: Siberia Hut, Brewster Hut, Liverpool Hut, Mid Caples Hut, McKellar Hut, Greenstone Hut, Shelter Rock Hut, Dart Hut, Daleys Flat Hut, Lakehead Hut, John Tait Hut, Upper Travers Hut, West Sabine Hut, Sabine Hut, Speargrass Hut, and Blue Lake Hut.

For those huts where a booking is required and the pass is no longer valid (Siberia Hut, Liverpool Hut, and Brewster Hut during the summer period), there are two options for customers with passes bought before 1 July 2021:

  • book the hut manually with the Visitor Centre where the pass can be recognised, or
  • book online and pay, then go to a Visitor Centre and seek the refund. In both cases the customer will need to bring their pass with them for authentication.

Backcountry Hut Pass purchases and use not meeting the following Terms and Conditions are treated as invalid and will be cancelled by the Department of Conservation.

By accepting these Terms and Conditions you are also accepting conditions and rules specific to the hut rules and will abide by the Hut Code of Conduct. These can be found at DOC website on the property web page.

These Terms and Conditions are correct at time of publishing however DOC reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.
