The hut can be accessed via Akatarawa Road, turning off into Waiotauru Road on Akatarawa Saddle.

Waiotorou Road is 4WD only. Without a 4WD, you need to start at Akatawara Saddle and walk the 3 hours up Waiotorou Road to Maymorn junction.
