North Mangahao Bivvy is in the remote area of the Tararua Forest Park.
There are no tracks to the bivvy. To get there you need good navigation skills as it involves going through a lot of bush without clear landmarks.
You can get there from Scotts Road. Walk through the forestry then navigate your way to the bivvy. Or, you can get there from the end of Kopikopiko Road. You will need to cross private land using the Kopikopiko Road route. Get permission from the landowner before crossing.
