This track is part of Te Araroa Trail.
Walk or bike alongside Lake Wakatipu before heading up through pine forest and regenerating native bush to views of Wilson Bay from Kirks Terrace.
Mountain biking
This track provides access to 7 Mile Scenic Reserve Mountain Bike Park via an uphill bike access trail. For more information and trails, visit the Queenstown Mountain Bike Club website.
You can start the track from the 7 Mile carpark, 7 km out of Queenstown along the Glenorchy–Queenstown Road, or at the Wilson Bay car park, further along the Glenorchy–Queenstown Road.
For Mountain Bikers, Wilson Bay provides easier access for the uphill access track to the Seven Mile Bike Park.
Take extra care when parking
During the summer months, accessing car parking sites along the Glenorchy–Queenstown Road can be very busy.
Extreme caution is required. It is not recommended to park along the roadside or reverse out onto the road as the high-flow of traffic is going at speed.
Visiting outside of peak times (in the morning or early evening) may make the parking at this site easier.
