A sheltered campsite amongst mānuka/kānuka on the ridgeline between the Queen Charlotte and Kenepuru Sounds.
This is a basic campsite with a long drop toilet and a cooking shelter with great views.
Water is collected from the shelter roof so is untreated and can be limited or unavailable during summer and droughts. Visitors will need to be self-contained with all of their own camping and cooking equipment as well as water if visiting during a dry period.
Fees
- Adult (18+ years): $10 per night
- Child (5 - 17 years): $5 per night
- Infant (0 - 4 years): free

Te Araroa Trail walkers should register and purchase the Te Araroa Trail Pass.
Bookings
Bookings for the 2026/27 season open at 12 noon on Friday 15 May 2026.
- If no availability shows online for your dates, the campsite is fully booked.
- No spaces are kept for campers arriving without a booking.
- Phone and in‑person bookings made at a visitor centre incur a $10 service fee.
- Same‑day bookings are available online until 8 pm if spaces remain.
Book well in advance for the peak period from 1 December - 28 February and for public holiday weekends.
Walking and mountain bike access only from the Queen Charlotte Track. It is a 3 hr walk from Kenepuru Saddle.
