Historic Waihohonu Hut Track

Introduction
Walk to the historic Waihohonu Hut, built in 1903/04 and used as a stopover for stage coaches.6.3 km return return via same track
Dog access
The track meanders through beech forest and open tussockland, crossing the Ohinepango Stream. The track emerges at the new Waihohonu Hut, continue straight ahead towards Tama Lakes for about 5 minutes to the next junction. Turn left to reach the historic Waihohonu Hut.
Return the same way.
The track starts on Desert Road (SH 1), 35 km south of Tūrangi.
No drones
Unauthorised use of drones is prohibited. You must have a permit to fly a drone.
DOC does not generally approve permits to fly drones in this national park and we do not recommend you apply for one.
