Every year the programme hosts a group of volunteers at the Burwood Takahē Centre to experience a week in the life of a takahē ranger.
The work varies throughout the year, but it may include:
- feeding takahē
- inspecting and maintaining pen fences
- regular checking and maintenance of predator traps set in and outside the fence lines
- general maintenance of facilities and equipment.

Volunteer at sanctuaries
Sanctuary sites often have opportunities for you to volunteer. This is a great way to support species recovery.
