Every year we need 6-15 volunteers to work between September and March. The work is quite physical. Medium fitness required.
Ōrongorongo Track is an easy 5 km walking track in the Catchpool Valley, and one of the busiest in the Wellington region. You can help us keep it in good condition so it's accessible to all visitors, by volunteering for a day.
What to expect
You'll work with DOC rangers to clear drains using hand tools. There may also be some track cutting and sign cleaning required.
Volunteer work is for one full 6-8 hour day. No skills are required, our rangers will provide an overview.
You must be over the age of 18.
Fitness required: A medium level of fitness is required. The work is quite physical.
Training: Any necessary training will be provided. If you have specific skills list them in your application.
Transport: You need your own transport to meet at the Catchpool carpark.
What to bring
Food: Volunteers need to provide their own food.
Gear: Find out what to bring. A full gear list will be provided when your volunteering opportunity is confirmed. Any safety gear and all tools will be supplied.

What happens next
Our volunteer programme often has many more applicants than positions available. You will be contacted within three weeks of your application if there is a position available for you. If you have not had a reply by then, unfortunately this means your application has not been successful.
