Are you an expert in lakes and freshwater or a related field and based in the greater Lake Wānaka/Otago area? Or are you passionate protecting freshwater environments and have experience on a board or committee?
The Guardians want to grow their capacity as a board and ensure the protection of Lake Wānaka as required by the Lake Wanaka Preservation Act 1973. This means adapting to new digital tools for resource management and data analysis. Most importantly, Guardians need to confidently represent the lake and its environment.

Key information and dates
- The current roles will be an ‘out of term’ appointment until June 2027, with opportunity to extend for a consecutive term of up to 2 years.
- Expressions of interest are open till the 8th of January.
- Appointments will be confirmed in late February 2026, taking into account statutory holidays and parliamentary close down.
