Introduction
DOC publicly notified amendments to the West Coast Te Tai o Poutini Conservation Management Strategy 2010 (WCCMS) in March 2019. Submissions closed Monday 20 May 2019. DOC halted the CMS amendment process.Why we halted the CMS amendment
Forest and Bird (F&B) and Federated Mountain Clubs (FMC) raised concerns with DOC and the New Zealand Conservation Authority (NZCA) as to the process being followed. This was in respect of the amendment of the WCCMS and the approval of the Paparoa National Park Management Plan.

Your submission
Halting the amendment had nothing to do with submissions received, which will be considered within the full review of the WCCMS.
What happens next
DOC will undertake a full review of the West Coast Conservation Management Strategy 2010–2020. This will commence in the 21/22 year.
