Intention to grant a concession to University of Canterbury
The Minister of Conservation gives notice of her intention to grant a 10-year lease concession to the University of Canterbury. Submissions close 23 November 2017.

The Minister of Conservation gives notice of her intention to grant a 10-year lease concession under section 17Q of the Conservation Act 1987 to the University of Canterbury. 

The proposed concession activity is to install new infrastructure; occupy and maintain new and existing infrastructure, and undertake unmanned autonomous vehicle (UAV) landings for the purpose of carrying out UAV research and development over part of Kaitorete Spit Scientific Reserve, Birdlings Flat, Canterbury.

Any person or organisation may object in writing to the Director-General against the proposal, or make written submissions on the proposal.

Submissions will be accepted up to and including 23 November 2017. Once submitted, submitters' information is subject to the Official Information Act 1982 and may be released under that Act. If you wish to keep any part of your submission confidential, you need to state this in writing when making your submission.

Hearing

Any person or organisation wishing to be heard in support of his/her objection, or submission, must request (in that objection/submission) an opportunity to appear before the Director-General.

If a hearing is required, it is likely to occur in the week starting 11 December 2017.
