Introduction

This fund supports community-led restoration projects on public and private land that create jobs.

Highlights

The Jobs for Nature Community Conservation Fund is a one-off fund of $16 million available for practical projects aimed at restoring New Zealand's indigenous biodiversity.

You can apply for grants of between $300,000 and $700,000 (in total), if you have a project that creates temporary employment for up to 3 years.

Projects can be focused on:

  • protecting and restoring our natural habitats
  • halting the decline of and restoring healthy, sustainable populations of our native species

How to apply

1. Check your project is eligible for funding

Review the eligibility criteria and the Guide for applicants – see Before you apply.

2. Prepare your application

If you are eligible, you will need to prepare the documents below before submitting your application. 

  1. Project application form – Sections D to F (DOC, 662K)
  2. Project location map (optional)

Note: Letters of support will not be accepted. 

3. Submit your application

Applications to the fund can only be submitted between 14 January 2021 and 1 pm 16 February 2021. You will be informed of decisions in March 2021.

Submit your application online. You'll need a modern browser like Chrome (not Internet Explorer). Be ready to complete the application in one go.

If you have problems with the online application you can apply by email.

  1. Complete the Full project application form (DOC, 713K).
  2. Email to jfnccf@doc.govt.nz with the name of your organisation in the subject line.

Important dates

  • 14 January 2021 – Fund opens.
  • 16 February 2021 – Fund closes.
  • March 2021 – Applicants notified of funding decisions.
