Conservation Boards share in a vision to protect New Zealand’s flora and fauna in the contemporary environment. They are concerned with representing the public interest in conservation within their geographical area of jurisdiction.


Conservation board nominations are open

We are now taking nominations for conservation board appointments in 2020.

Who can apply?

Sophie Smith, Canterbury Aoraki Conservation Board

Anyone can apply – it makes no difference if you’re a student or retired, a farmer or a tourism operator – you just need:

  • a passion for conservation
  • enough time and energy to perform your role, and
  • to be a good fit for your region’s conservation board.

Written nominations may be made by any person or organisation.
