The East Coast Hawkes Bay was disestablished in July 2009 and split into East Coast Bay of Plenty Conservation Board, and the Wellington Hawke's Bay Conservation Board. It was then re-established in 2014 resulting in, three Boards: the East Coast Hawkes Bay Conservation Board, Wellington Conservation Board, and Bay of Plenty Conservation Board.
