The conservation status of 493 species of moths and butterflies in New Zealand was reassessed using the New Zealand Threat Classification System (NZTCS).

This report provides a list of these species, along with a statistical summary and brief notes on the most important changes since the previous assessment.

In total:

  • 79 species are Threatened
  • 152 species is At Risk
  • 154 species are Not Threatened
  • 8 species are Non-resident Native
  • 100 species are Data Deficient.
