Introduction

DOC has procedural guidance that must be followed in Tongariro National Park.

For basic maintenance of your structure in Tongariro National Park you must notify DOC.

Works approval application

For any work beyond basic maintenance, you will need to apply for a works approval. To ensure your application process goes smoothly, contact us for advice.

Helicopter use notification

If a helicopter is required to carry out essential works within Whakapapa, Turoa or Tukino ski areas you must notify DOC.

Machinery inspections

All machinery that enters Tongariro National Park will require an inspection by DOC unless it meets the criteria for an exemption.

Ski club vehicle off-road access permits

For off-road vehicle access within Whakapapa Ski Area to Meads Wall, Salt Ridge and the Rock Garden you will need to apply for an access permit.

Environmental incident notification

If an environmental incident were to occur in Tongariro National Park, such as sewage leaks, hazardous substances, rubbish, you must notify DOC using the Environmental incident notification form.
