Description

A scenic shot of Fernhill
The track offers a splendid mixture of exotic and beech forest, with alpine tussocklands at the highest sections and many inspiring views. Parts of the track were established to help harvest beech trees to fuel the steamer Earnslaw. The portion of the track closest to Fernhill is steep, but the remainder of its gradual and undulating.
