General information
The Tairua block encompasses the Motutapere Ecological Area, Kapowai Ecological Area and Coromandel Forest Park totalling approx 10,000 ha. The forest types comprise lowland/coastal to secondary manuka/kanuka forest, kauri forest and subalpine scrub land. The terrain is undulating with sharp ridges and steep guts.
Access
The Tairua Block has access points including the Kopu Hikai Road and Puketui Road.
Landholders
All hunters are asked to respect the rights of private land owners and farmers and gain permission from the land owner/occupier should they intend to gain access to the block across private land.

Dogs
- The number of hunting dogs is limited to three per permittee.
- It is a requirement that all dogs in this block have current certification for kiwi/bird aversion training.
- Dogs must be kept under control at all times.
- Dogs are not permitted in DOC campgrounds.

There are no DOC huts in this block.
