Pigs are present in Papa Aroha block.

General information

Papa Aroha is located 5 km north of Coromandel township.  The western boundary is adjacent to the small coastal settlement of Papa Aroha, with the eastern boundary being the Tokatea Range. The area comprises 1127 ha of public conservation land surrounded by private land and exotic forestry.

Access

The Papa Aroha block is not easily accessed by hunters, due to a lack of walking tracks and other visitor facilities.

Landholders

All hunters are asked to respect the rights of private land owners and farmers and gain permission from the land owner/occupier should they intend to gain access to the block across private land.

Dogs

  • The number of hunting dogs is limited to three per permittee.
  • It is a requirement that all dogs in this block have current certification for kiwi/bird aversion training.
  • Dogs must be kept under control at all times.
  • Dogs are not permitted in DOC campgrounds.
