This is a restricted hunting area for bow hunting only. 

General information

Waireinga/Bridal Veil Falls is subject to very high public visitation (55,000 visitors per year). As it is only a small reserve (217 ha), the use of firearms at this location has caused distress to members of the public, and has therefore been set aside for bow hunting only.

Access

Turn left off SH23 to Te Mata. 1 km past Te Mata, turn left on to Kawhia Road (no exit) and continue on another 4 km until you see the Waireinga/Bridal Veil Falls carpark.

Landholders

Hunters must have a thorough understanding of the public conservation land boundary to avoid trespassing on the contiguous (unfenced) privately owned bush

Dogs

Hunting dogs are not permitted in this reserve.

Huts

There are no huts in this area.

Additional information

Please keep off the stream bed as rare orchid species are growing on the steep slopes beside the waterfall. It is also advised to keep out of the water as it is usually chemically unsafe for swimming.
