Introduction

You can hunt red deer and goats in the Croydon Bush Scenic Reserve.

Permit requirements

A permit is required to hunt on public conservation land.

This hunting area is covered by an 'open area permit' – get it online or from a DOC office.

Dog access

Dogs allowed. Keep dog under control at all times.

About this hunting block

The Croydon Bush Scenic Reserve is located 7kms northwest of Gore and covers approximately 874 ha. A series of parallel steep northwest ridges are dissected by several streams with tussock, scrub and podocarp forest remnants. There are several tracks, a look out and picnic area. 

Access

Follow Kingdom Road or Reaby Road north of Gore from SH94. Side roads off these provide access.

Dogs

  • Dogs must be registered and are not permitted in hut
  • When crossing private land, dogs are to be on a leash until well into forest and kept under control.
  • DOC must be notified regarding missing or lost dogs on conservation land.

Huts

There are no DOC huts available.

Additional information

If possuming, a permit must be obtained by visiting the DOC Murihiku Office in Invercargill.
